True Concord is committed to creating memorable experiences through the performance of celebrated masterworks and music of today’s best composers. Known for adventurous collaborations, True Concord creates ambitious and unique partnerships with many outstanding performance ensembles and arts organizations in culturally rich southern Arizona. Past collaborative partners have included Arizona Choir, Arizona Early Music Society, Artifact Dance Project, Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus, Tucson Symphony Orchestra, UA Dance, and The University of Arizona Poetry Center. In addition to notable partnerships, True Concord works with nationally- and internationally-known soloists of the highest caliber, including Jeffrey Biegel, Richard Paul Fink, Kelley O’Connor, Morris Robinson, Jubilant Sykes and Corinne Winters. The True Concord experience is not only about highly polished, professional performances. It’s about the synergy between audience and performers that attracts new fans and keeps loyal subscribers coming back year after year. In 2015 True Concord made its debut in New York City at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall with a performance of their commission Prayers and Remembrances by Stephen Paulus. On that same day, True Concord released its Far in the Heavens CD, comprised of recently composed and previously unrecorded works by Paulus. That year, Far in the Heavens earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Choral Performance, and Paulus’s 35-minute oratorio was awarded the GRAMMY for Best Contemporary Classical Composition. ABOUT USTrue Concord is committed to creating memorable experiences through Now in its 17th season, many audience members have been with True Concord since its beginning. Fans continue to count on a commitment to excellence and thought-provoking creativity — and look forward to each new season of beautiful, expanding and enriching experiences through music. Since the outset of the COVID epidemic, True Concord worked to re-imagine a fall season that would be safe and accessible to ev- eryone. They devised a modified fall season of live and streaming performances to address concerns while still producing rich musi- cal experiences. “A number of our patrons haven’t been outside this entire time,” says Founding Music Director, Eric Holtan, “we can only imagine the sense of profound isolation and loneliness they are experiencing. Music is a powerful way to stay connected and in touch.” Putting the artists in a “True Concord bubble," the group’s 18 vocalists (most of whom come from outside Tucson), have quarantined for 10 days prior to rehearsals, tapings and live performances. Local instrumentalists quarantined at home and all artists are continuously tested to ensure their health. Live performances will be held at outdoor venues with safety measures in effect adhering to pandemic safety regulations and social distancing guidelines. To serve patrons who aren’t able to enjoy in-person concerts, True Concord is offering streaming concert experiences everyone can enjoy in the comfort of their homes. Produced by the award- winning television crew of Arizona PBS, these concerts will be a unique opportunity for more people to see and hear True Concord than ever before. “Witness firsthand those very special moments when the energy of the audience flows into the performers, and the music rises to a point where all is hushed in the hall, and every soul waits eagerly for the next note.” — Tucson LifestyleNext >
